The problem

A strategic review is a document a partnership acts on. It is usually produced under time pressure, by people who will not be there when it is tested, and it does not record how it reached its conclusions.

When the thesis is later challenged — by an investment committee, by a limited partner, by a buyer’s diligence team — the reasoning cannot be reconstructed. The work is not wrong. It is unauditable.

What it is

Evidmere produces strategic reviews under a fixed method and a published standard.

Every assertion in the output is linked to the source it rests on. Every source is dated and rated for confidence. Where the evidence is thin, the review says so, and says how thin. Where two sources conflict, both appear.

The method is written down and does not vary between engagements. You can read the standard before you commission the work, and check the output against it afterwards.

What you receive

• A strategic review, in a fixed format, running to a defined structure.
• A confidence rating applied to every material claim.
• A source register, addressable and dated.
• A record of what was examined and rejected, not only what was accepted.
• The right to have the method independently inspected.

Where the method comes from

The method was developed across strategic reviews for corporate and private-equity clients, and has been formalised so that it can be applied consistently rather than remembered.

Evidmere is a small company. We take a limited number of engagements. We would rather decline work than run the method badly.

Engagement

Engagements begin with a scoping conversation and a written remit. We do not respond to requests for proposal and we do not present speculatively.

If a remit cannot be answered within the method, we will say so at the scoping stage rather than after the fee is agreed.
